The Great Egret is not a bird I see much in central Montana. In fact, I had to look it up after taking pictures of it in flight over a friend’s pond. Their main range is along the US coast and throughout South America. They migrate as close as Idaho and North Dakota but are not usually seen in Montana. After digging deeper, I learned that their presence is spreading as populations grow.
